There is something special about the Julian Alps, less known than the rest of the Alpine chain.
Their pure air, wild peaks, and endless trails make them an ideal testing ground for San Rita Wilderness outdoor gear. In July 2025, five friends and I set off on a multi-day hike through this Slovenian paradise, combining challenging climbs, flocks of sheep, mountain huts, alpine lakes, and unique moments only experienced away from the hustle and bustle of cities.

We began our journey in Nantes, heading east through France, along Switzerland and Italy, until we reached Bovec, nestled in the heart of Slovenia's Julian Alps. After several hours of driving, excitement was building as the mountains loomed on the horizon. Once there, we carefully prepared our equipment for the days of walking ahead.

We had a plan: reach the Pogačnikov dom hut, perched at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. A drop of over 1,600 meters lay ahead of us. The trail climbed quickly, winding through forests and flowery meadows before giving way to scree slopes and steep walls. Each step brought us closer to the peaks, our breath short but our hearts pumping with adrenaline. Above us, the peaks stood out against a brilliant blue sky, and all around, sheep bells echoed in the valley.
Our Owens technical tee and Born to Be Wild cap have been put to the test like never before.

When the hut finally appeared, clinging to the mountainside, a feeling of victory washed over us. We put down our bags, opened our provisions, and savored this suspended moment, surrounded by the immensity of the Julian Alps.
